Star Wars Rebels Season 3: 10 Most Anticipated Moments

4. The Darksaber

Sabine Wren is a character that wasn't especially well received at first thanks to her bright pink armour and graffiti artist characterisation. But since then, things have been toned down a bit with her moving away from her colourful grenades and explosive spray paint, and getting her hands on a jetpack, and now the Darksaber. Proving that Lightsabers make everything better.

Sabine owning the Darksaber gives the audience a chance to look at a different side to Lightsaber combat. The Darksaber’s previous owner Pre Vizsla pulled out every trick he had when fighting Force users and now it looks like Rebels going back to that side of things as Kanan trains Sabine to use it.

Another interesting aspect of this storyline is the Darksaber as a symbol of power. In The Clone Wars, it was simply a historic artefact stolen from the Jedi. But Season 3’s Mandalorian story arc adds another layer to it as a symbol of power and authority, much like Mandalore’s helmet in the Legends continuity. Whoever wore Mandalore’s helmet ruled the clans. Is Sabine about to become the new continuity’s first Mandalore?
