The Flash: 5 Stories Needed To Be Done Before The Series Ends
1. The Flash #155 "The Gauntlet Of Super-Villans"
If there was one threat big enough to justify the "Big Bad" of the season format, this would be it. The Rogues. Flash's supervillains united against him have been a staple of Flash comics since the Silver-Age of comics. Individually these villains aren't the A-List of comic book villains. None are iconic as The Joker or as dangerous as Thanos. However their forces combined....now that is something impressive.
Many of the classic Rogues have individually appeared on The Flash TV series, but have yet to unite. Although it was teased way back in season one that the roots of this evil alliance was starting to form, nothing has become of it since. The villains are united more often than not in the comics with such regularity that a show without The Rogues feels incomplete. Can you imagine a Batman series in its fifth season without ever showing The Joker?
Arrowverse has written itself into a minor corner by exporting classic Rogues Captain Cold & Heatwave to Legends of Tomorrow. Cold was put on serious ice at the end of that series first season when Cold nobly sacrificed himself. Heatwave may not want to be called a hero, but he has defiantly turned in a Legend. They would have been excellent in The Rogues, but there is still plenty of established villains within the show to create a worthy team. Liam McIntyre's career criminal Mark Mardon/Weather Wizard would be a great new leader in Cold's absence.
It is past time to assemble The Rogues.
