The Simpsons: 10 Greatest Recurring Characters Introduced After Season One

2. Kang & Kodos

It all started in season two of The Simpsons. Season one is the only season without a Treehouse of Horror to its name, but in the third episode of the second season, an instant classic of an episode formula was born, and the aliens that helped make it so good.

Kang and Kodos were joined in ‘Hungry Are The Damned’ by Serroc the Preparer and a Rigillian whose name can’t be pronounced correctly with an intact tongue, but the alien species was soon whittled down to just the two. It’s fair to say that they are iconic in the realms of The Simpsons.

They both ran for President of the United States of America, with ‘Don’t blame me, I voted for Kodos’ still being one of the greatest lines of dialogue in the history of the show, they genuinely tried to show the Simpsons a wondrous feast, and Kang was revealed to be Maggie’s real father. It just doesn’t feel right to have a Halloween special without them.

The aliens have appeared in several non Halloween episodes over the past 30 years. In 'The Man Who Came To Be Dinner', Kang and Kodos took the Simpsons to Rigel Seven to sacrifice them, in Simpsorama, they dined with Lrrr and NdNd, as the show once and for all confirmed that both of them, in fact, are female, and in 'The Springfield Files' one of them featured in an FBI line up. However, it is their Treehouse of Horror exploits that have earned them the love of just about every Simpsons fan.
