Every great villain needs a good origin story, and this one belonged to Sideshow Bob, the wonderfully theatrical, brilliantly odd nemesis of Bart - voiced exceptionally by Kelsey Grammer. It's far from Bob's best performance, but in the grand scheme of things, the first step on his journey to arch-villainy is an important and entertaining one.

The episode - which sees Krusty the Clown unwittingly framed for armed robbery (it seems odd that Bob thought wearing a disguise was necessary considering his agenda, but there you go) - was fast-paced, funny and smart, and brought together Lisa and Bart as the occasionally crime0fighting duo they would become for other Bob-centric episodes.
