7. The Handler Is Dead (For Real This Time)

One of the big surprises of the season came early on when it was revealed that The Handler was actually still alive.

The larger-than-life potential threat had been shot in the head (and presumably killed) by Hazel last season and it seemed like all that potentially dangerous sassiness she exuded would never be fully explored. So when Kate Walsh's enigmatic villain recovered, it set up a delightfully entertaining power struggle between her, the Commission's new director and Five.

But all of her plotting caught up with her in the finale when she was killed by Axel - who sought revenge on her for setting him and his brothers up. Though it seemed like she might escape death one more time thanks to Five's time-traveling, she met the same fate once more.

It's hard to imagine how the show will move on from such a charismatic antagonist, but given that this is the same position we all thought it was in following Season 1's conclusion, it will be interesting to see where it goes from here.
