The Walking Dead: 16 Easter Eggs You Probably Missed In Season 5
8. A Nazi/Biblical Reference
In the Google street view like tour of Alexandria, there's a glimpse at a book case, which includes a copy of Upton Sinclair's Wide Is The Gate. The choice of book seems entirely intentional, not least because it's about subterfuge and double agents (an ominous theme that runs throughout the end of the series) in Nazi Germany. More importantly, the title is a reference to a biblical verse: Matthew 7:13-15:
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves."
That again fits with the image of people not being what they immediately seem.
