4. Creepshow And Night Of The Comet Walkers

Once again going back to Greg Nicotero, and the effects guru has often used the show to pay homage to the zombie genre, in particular the groundbreaking work of George A Romero (on whose films he got his start).

That continued this year, with a couple of walkers designed to pay tribute to classics of the genre. In Say Yes, we saw a walker that paid tribute to the movie Creepshow, which was directed by Romero and written by Stephen King (Nicotero himself worked on the sequel).

Earlier in the season, in The Cell, he paid homage to the 1984 movie Night of the Comet, written and directed by Thom Eberhardt.
