4. Up: The Cast Continues to Shine

Though "Bye" has its issues, many of them are meagre in the grand scheme of things, especially when you've got an ensemble such as this giving it their all to show audiences a good time.

Particularly, this episode is a standout for Andrew Lincoln, who's forced to play Rick even more desperate than he was in the premiere. Now with Michonne, Lincoln portrays Rick as a man caught in an impossible juggling act, silently battling his own demons whilst keeping his loved ones safe from looming outside forces.

Lincoln is bringing a masterclass this season - haunted, hopeless, yet fighting through gritted teeth - and so is Danai Gurira, who's suspicious turn this episode carries a staggering amount of feeling. She's heartbroken by Rick's life, determined to return home, trying to figure her place in the world.

Their supporting actors are also excellent. Thorne may be a bit thin this hour, but Lesley-Ann Brandt brings palpable conflict to the role, and Lost alum Terry O'Quinn continues to impress in small doses as a malevolent figure who's clearly hiding some big secrets. Speaking of which...
