Top 50 Iconic TV Characters of the 90s

20. Mitch Buchannon - Baywatch

thumbnail Ahhhh, the man that made everybody want to become a life guard. Mitch Buchannon (now known as the train wreck David Hasselhoff) was THE man. He was a fast swimmer, father of Hobie and most importantly helped introduce Pamela Anderson to a wide stream audience (after her Home Improvement days of course). If you were a guy growing up in the 90's then Mitch had your dream job, saving lives, getting chicks and enjoying that ever so sweet ocean breeze. Lets face it, he's the reason why a lot of us learned how to swim in the first place. Grant you I haven't saved any lives because of my swimming abilities, but I haven't drowned either...

19. Cliff Huxtable - The Cosby Show

coz Bill Cosby is a God amongst men. The Cosby Show (which had it's glory days primarily in the 80's) was a ground breaking show, it was the first of its kind. It was the first show centered around a wealthy African American family living in the suburbs of New York dealing with everyday issues. Without it there might not have been a Family Matters or Fresh Prince of Bel-Air so it deserves some major love and respect for that alone. Cliff Huxtable was the husband and loving father of 5, his character was smart, witty, intelligent, stern, caring, but most of all Cliff was just plain funny. You can still watch The Cosby Show today and get a good laugh, and you have Cliff Huxtable's sweaters and him to thank for that.

18. Topanga Lawrence - Boy Meets World

danielle_fishel_01_04 If you didn't have a child hood crush on Kelly Kapowski then you had one on Topanga Lawrence, or in most cases, both! What made her different then Ms. Kapowski was that you thought you could get a girl like Topanga. In the first season she was a weirdo and a hippie but we can forgive her for that because she then quickly evolved into the down to earth smoking hot every mans girl. She was incredibly smart, insecure, realistic, loving and absolutely gorgeous. Damn you Cory Matthews. Damn you straight to hell!

17. X-Men - The Animated Series

503805-marvel1_super Now THIS is the best cartoon of the 90's. I couldn't pick just one character so I decided to make it a team effort. The X-Men series which aired from 1992-1997 was so badass that I couldn't wait for Saturday mornings to see what would happen next. Now on Netflix (thank you Netflix) we can all relive the glory days of when a cartoon kicked some serious ass. X-Men was a story driven show that dealt with the constant battle of good vs evil as the X-Men tried to fend off Magneto and company through out the series, which of course usually resulted in the X-Men coming out on top. The show had incredibly good action and fighting scenes which didn't just make it good, it made it great.

16. Uncle Jesse - Full House

jesse01 You wish your uncle was as cool as Uncle Jesse. The suave, smooth, great haired musician was the best uncle ever. If he wasn't helping the girls out with a problem, the guys out with a jam, or dating Rebecca Donaldson (who by the way is drop dead gorgeous) you could probably find him at The Smash Club rocking out with the boys. Uncle Jesse was a loyal friend to both Danny and Joey as well as a kick ass uncle to DJ, Stephanie and Michelle. Now I can't speak for any of you but there's always room for a little Uncle Jesse in my life, by far the coolest uncle on the list.
