16. Bill Turns Jessica, Season 1, Episode 11
Bill turning Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) into a vampire was as fascinating as it was hard to watch. This moment gave us insight into how a human is turned into a vampire, as well as a look at vampire hierarchy and politics. Jessica was turned as a punishment for Bill killing Longshadow, the Fangtasia bartender who tried to kill Sookie. As Jessica plead for her life, it was devastating to see Bill unwillingly and violently drain her blood amongst a mass of bloodthirsty vamps. Little did we know that a vampire burial and the rebirth of Jessica would be spectacular as it added another fan favorite to the show. After spending a night in the ground, we learned what newly turned vampires are like. They're extremely bloodthirsty, immature and out of control. In Jessica these characteristics were multiplied as we learned that in her human life she was a sheltered Christian school girl. Her realization that she had a limitless amount of time to do whatever she wanted was plain fun to watch. The best part was her rampant profanity as she had never been allowed to say certain words around her human parents. "F--K! That's a bad one!"
15. Rene Is The Killer, Season 1, Episode 12
The main storyline of the first season was the Bon Temps serial killer. Fangbangers were getting strangled left and right and by the end of the season, most Bon Temps residents pointed the finger at Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten). With a little help from Sookie's telepathic abilities, she and the audience discovered that the real killer was none other than Rene, Arlene's husband and one of Jason's best friends. The reveal made for a killer (no pun intended) season finale. It was arguably the best season finale the show has ever had. Michael Raymond-James's quick turn from smooth-talking Cajun to crazed psychopath was scary and intense, and he kept the audience on the edge of its seat for most of the episode. In the end, with the help from Sam in dog form, Sookie managed to put a shovel in Rene's fangbanger-hating neck. To keep a certain amount of "True Blood" hilarity in this entire scenario, it was revealed that Rene had been listening to dialect tapes to perfect his ridiculous Cajun accent.
