Westworld Season 2: 12 Stupid Blunders That Completely Ruined It

7. Not Enough Anthony Hopkins

Westworld Season 2 Ed Harris
HBO

Westworld has always been a well-acted show, but Anthony Hopkins was the standout and it was incredibly jarring not to see more of him.

Hopkins is an incredible actor, but recently he's doing lots of paycheck roles in blockbusters, such as in Transformers and the MCU, so it's been so refreshing to see him on such brilliant form in Westworld. His subtle yet rich and perfectly-crafted performance is a real acting masterclass and it's a shame he didn't win an Emmy.

His absence from most of this season was very damaging. With Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton and Ed Harris all caught up in terrible story-lines, he's the only actor who was as enjoyable to watch in season two as he was in season one.

If they'd found a way to bring him back a bit more, it certainly could've added some sorely-needed emotional investment and narrative interest into a largely tedious season.
