Why Every Modern Companion Left Doctor Who

John Bishop's Dan Lewis was rather unceremoniously dumped back at his tiny house in the opening moments of Power of the Doctor. However, we're probably lucky that we got as much of Dan as we did. 

Due to the COVID pandemic, stand up comedian John Bishop had to curtail his UK tour. Luckily for him, Chris Chibnall had specifically written him a role in Flux, which kept him occupied while the UK's theatres and arenas were shuttered. 

Dan Lewis was always a temporary contract, even if it weren't for Bishop's prior commitments as a comedian and entertainer, the departure of Chris Chibnall as showrunner and Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor made Dan's departure at the end of the specials a sure thing.
