2. Ouroboros

Star Trek Prodigy Ouroboros, Part II Wesley, Beverly Crusher
CBS Media Ventures

While we hesitate to call Ouroboros the overall finale of Star Trek: Prodigy (we still have hope for a third season), the second season's two-part finale was a triumph. It deftly merges the ongoing story of the Protostar with a new direction for Admiral Janeway and Captain Chakotay. It connects with the beginning of Star Trek: Picard, while offering some closure for Wesley Crusher and his mother.

There were a lot of spinning plates in the air as the season began to wrap up. The Loom, the Vau Na'kat, and the potential end of all things were all on the line, as well as the need for the Protostar to go back in time. There was a real chance that it could have left an unsatisfying taste in the mouth with simply too much to address.

Instead, the show manages to pull off a perfect ending. It remains open for the story to continue, with a new ship captained by a familiar crew. The USS Prodigy might be a bit on the nose, but the show ends with hope for the future, offered by a young crew of new warrant officers. It was the exact message that Prodigy offered from the beginning, thus closing the loop perfectly.

You could almost say it was in the name.
