10 Times Feet Were Better Than Fists Inside Of The Octagon

2. Gabriel Gonzaga Vs. Mirko Filipovic (UFC 70)

If you want to talk about a star who has become synonymous with the violent art of head kicking, look no further than Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic.

Making a career out of nearly decapitating the likes of Wanderlei Silva, Alexander Emelianenko and Igor Vovchanchyn inside of the Pride promotion, 'Cro Cop' was expected to leave a trail of even more limp corpses behind him when he signed for the UFC in 2007.

He won his first fight via TKO stoppage (thanks to those putrid things known as 'punches') but then found himself faced with the daunting prospect of one Gabriel Gonzaga in his next bout.

Gonzaga wasn't exactly known as a vicious leg striker and found more joy inside of the Octagon by bludgeoning his opponents with his fists or mercilessly tapping them out.

Yet, that all changed on one fateful night in Manchester when the hulking Gonzaga timed a head kick sent from the Gods with astounding accuracy in the final seconds of the first round.

'Cro Cop' fell to his trademark manoeuvre and felt the bitter taste of his own medicine, courtesy of a man who'd never scored a head kick KO before that night.

Feet aren't just better than fists, they're capable of miracles, too.
