UFC 245 Predictions

1. Colby Covington Vs. Kamaru Usman

It's taken a long time to get there, but we're finally going to see the UFC welterweight title put on the line as current champion, Kamaru Usman, takes on former interim titleholder, Colby Covington.

To say that these two top 170lbers don't like each other very much would be an understatement, which gives the bout a little added extra spice to an already intriguing battle. Both men are quite similar in their approach to fighting, fitting the stereotype of a modern day wrestle-boxer perfectly.

Both are extremely good wrestlers, which means that they could cancel each other out in that department. So if the fight remains standing, it really depends on which one of them is able to have success in the striking exchanges.

Usman has shown far more power than Covington during his career, especially in his knockout win over Sergio Moraes. Covington, however, looked extremely impressive in his battle with legendary power striker Robbie Lawler, landing an abundance of pitter patter punches on the veteran and negating practically all of his for all five rounds of their fight.

While many are hoping that Covington gets annihilated by Usman in the most violent way possible, it's highly likely that they're allowing their hate for him to cloud their judgement. Covington might not be the most exciting fighter in the world, but his style is effective and his win over Lawler proved that he can hang with the best. It might be painful to watch, but Covington should walk out of the T-Mobile Arena with the belt wrapped around his waist.

Colby Covington via unanimous decision.
