UFC: 5 MMA Power Couples Who Could Hold Titles Simultaneously
2. Raquel Pennington And Tecia Torres
Raquel Pennington And Tecia Torres are a pair of UFC standouts who have been engaged since 2017. Both women are ranked fighters who hold victories over former champions and some of the biggest names in their respective divisions
After defeating former UFC Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate in November of 2016, Raquel Pennington earned a shot at the strap. However, she would end up losing decisively to current titleholder Amanda Nunes. The 31-year-old would then go on to lose to former Featherweight champ Germaine de Randamie, before getting back in the win column in her last bout against Irene Aldana. The number six ranked bantamweight is set to face Holly Holm next month at UFC 243. If she can get past Holm, Pennington would reinsert herself back in the title picture.
Early in her career, Torres had impressive victories over some of the world's best strawweight including former champ Rose Namajunas and Felice Herrig. The 30-year-old also has a win over 'The Karate Hottie' Michelle Waterson. However, after going 10-1 in her first eleven pro fights, Torres has lost four consecutive bouts inside the Octagon. To be fair, three of the four losses came against fighters who have either previously held or currently hold the UFC Women's Strawweight Championship. Despite the losing streak, Torres is still ranked thirteenth in her division.
At one point, it seemed like the duo had a relatively decent shot of holding titles at the same time. That being said, both have struggled when facing the top dogs in their respective divisions. On the other hand, they're both still ranked, and stranger things have happened.
