UFC Fight Night: Covington Vs. Lawler Predictions

4. Trevin Giles Vs. Gerald Meerschaert

The UFC have been really successful in making sure that there's at least one all-action battle on each card and this particular fight feels like that one for UFC on ESPN 5.

Despite losing to Zak Cummings in his last bout, Trevin Giles really did look like he had some talent when he first entered the Octagon in 2017. The 26-year old is someone who is always looking for the finish, whether the fight is standing or hits the floor. His finest performance was against Antonio Braga Neto, where he blasted the Brazilian with a crushing right hand.

Gerald Meerschaert is very much the same in that he's a finisher. Despite fighting out of the legendary Roufusport, he's got above average striking skills. Where Meerschaert is really dangerous is when he's grappling. Offensively, the 31-year old is an absolute killer, earning 20 of his 28 victories via a variety of submissions. However, it also seems like his biggest weapon is also his biggest weakness, as the majority of the fights he's lost also come via submission.

It certainly feels like Giles has the advantage on the feet, but Meerschaert has a knack for getting the bout to the ground and finish the fight. That's exactly what should happen when he takes on Giles.
