But we’ve got yet another member of the instant-Women's-Title-win club, and this lucky lady managed to win her title without the benefit of any NXT momentum behind her.

Sure, she had a year or two on the indies under her belt but, either way, this was a true underdog tale for Gail Kim as she captured the WWE Women’s Championship on her very first Raw outing.

After a string of house show appearances, vignettes began to air hyping the arrival of a new female star with some kind of Matrix-style gimmick. That fuss culminated in a seven-woman Battle Royal for the Women’s Championship, in which Kim would outlast Trish Stratus, Ivory, Jacqueline, Molly Holly, Victoria and reigning champion Jazz to shock the world and seal her place in the history books.

Unfortunately, though, a broken collarbone would derail her momentum and she was released in November of the following year, with that one Women’s Championship win the solitary fruit of her labour. And though she would return in 2008 for a three-year stint, she had nothing like the kind of success her work really deserved.

Regardless, nothing can change the fact that she’s in pretty elite company as one of very few females to have tasted title glory in her first-ever WWE outing.
