10 Infamous Shoot Moments When WWE Got Real

9. Daniel Puder Vs. Kurt Angle

While our previous entry featured a company employee veering off-script against an outsider, here it was the outsider who went into business for himself. Not only that, but he chose to do so against Kurt Angle of all people, in a moment that could’ve been a whole lot worse were it not for the referee’s quick thinking.

The outsider I’m talking about was Daniel Puder, an MMA fighter who was taking part in Tough Enough season four. As part of the show, he and the rest of the contestants were brought onto SmackDown to take part in a squat thrust competition, with the winner earning themselves a match against Angle. Not the most desirable of rewards, but Puder clearly saw this as a chance to get his name in the headlines.

Taking matters into his own hands, he used his MMA experience to cinch in a legitimate Kimura Lock and very nearly break Angle’s arm. Angle managed to shift his weight on top of Puder, allowing Jimmy Korderas to count a pinfall even though Puder’s shoulders weren’t completely down.

Still, it was either that or risk having the newbie shatter Angle’s arm and humiliate him in front of the world.
