10 Much Loved WWE Superstars Who Ended Up Despised
9. CM Punk
The level of CM Punk's popularity in 2011 was compared to that of Stone Cold Steve Austin. That's how over he was after cutting the pipe bomb promo and wrestling one of the best matches of this century against John Cena at Money In The Bank 2011. Punk could do no wrong in the eyes of the fans. He represented everything that the internet wrestling community loved about pro wrestling, elite in-ring skills and first rate mic work. Even when he was a heel, he was still universally revered. And then came his walk out at the start of 2014. At first fans supported him, believing that WWE had forced his hand after years of dismal creative. But the fan perception soon soured. He became viewed as a selfish and greedy pro wrestler. Fans pointed to the 434 day WWE Title run that he had. Was this really a guy who could gripe about creative? Later in 2014, Punk did the Colt Cabana podcast and made clear that money had been one of his issues. Then in April 2015 he stated about WWE It didnt make any sense to me. I would put my boots on and shuffle my feet and walk out there and be like, I dont even know. It doesnt mean anything. Its fake. He's now one of the most genuinely hated wrestlers. Furthermore, MMA fans hate him as well, believing that he has no right to walk into their sport.
