10 Possible Swerves For The 2016 WWE Royal Rumble

3. An Injured Wrestler Returns Early

The Royal Rumble returns of Booker T, Kevin Nash and Diamond Dallas Paige in recent years have all made for monumental moments, but a common theme among them was that they were heavily rumored beforehand. Sure, we were happy to see the former WCW stars, but they weren't "surprises" in the truest sense of the word because they had been spoiled ahead of time. That said, like him or loathe him, John Cena's return in Madison Square Garden in 2008 might go down as the greatest Rumble comeback of all-time, solely because no one saw it coming. The guy sat on the sidelines for a mere three months when he was expected to miss up to a year of in-ring action. Him winning the Rumble that year and headlining WrestleMania 24 was just icing on the cake. Could we see Cena back in time for this year's installment? It's far-fetched considering his injury is more serious this time around, but WWE would do anything to have him be a part of WrestleMania 32. It's also been rumored Randy Orton could be medically cleared much sooner than expected due to not needing neck surgery. Could a Rumble return be in the cards for him as well? Seth Rollins is probably the biggest long shot of anyone out injured right now, but his music hitting would no doubt cause the crowd to come unglued. In fact, his music should play once the countdown hits zero only for a member of J&J Security to come out instead, having not been seen since the summer. That would be well worth it for the hilarity of the moment alone.
