10 Things You Need To Know About Perro Aguayo Jr

4. He Never Lost A Hair Or Mask Match

The biggest match in Mexico is one where either the wrestlers' mask or, if they don't wear a mask, their hair, is on the line. Mask and Hair matches are big money in Mexico. The wrestlers themselves will usually receive large payoffs for losing (especially a mask match as Lucha tradition stipulates that they must never re-mask). A Hair/Mask match is usually reserved for the end of a major feud. It's a blowoff, kind of like what Cage and Hell in a Cell matches used to be in WWE. Perro had the rare distinction of never having lost one of these matches. He never wore a mask and, every time his hair or someone's mask was on the line, he would come out on top. Aguayo claimed the masks of El Picudo and The Panther and caused many a Luchador to have his head shaved bald. With a perfect record of 13-0, any future Aguayo Hair/Mask matches would have no doubt been big business. Had he not died, a hair match would have been in Aguayo's future.
