10 Times WWE Best Used Blood

7. The Undertaker Vs. Brock Lesnar (Hell In A Cell 2015)

HIAC 2015 was not the first time The Deadman and The Beast collided inside the unforgiving steel structure. During Lesnar’s first major title feud in 2002, he defended the WWE Championship in the main event of No Mercy. That match was a complete bloodbath, with ‘Taker’s head becoming a geyser of blood. It’s frankly hard to watch. 13 years later, they got it just right, and they did it in a time when blood had become a complete taboo.

While Brock likely bled hard way from hitting his head hard (as he is prone to do), it’s obvious that Undertaker bladed. Allegedly, Vince and Kevin Dunn freaked out backstage and tried to get medical assistants to stop the match or cut it short. But really, what were these poor, tiny men to do? Tell Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker to stop? ‘Taker likely just stared at them and they got the message. Brock, not one for subtlety, probably threatened to eat them (and did later).

Jokes aside, matches like this are crucial reminders of how even in the sponsor-driven PG era, a little blood every now and then is absolutely crucial. Not for every match, of course, but for a match like Hell in a Cell, something needs to be added to really sell to the audience that the stipulation is the most brutal in WWE, instead of just a standard No DQ match inside a big, airy cage. Plus, it was crucial for a feud like Lesnar/’Taker, which featured two of the most larger-than-life figures in the company. Arguably ‘Taker’s last great match, this is definitely a bloody good affair.
