10 Wrestlers Who Beat Goldberg
2. Kevin Nash - Starrcade 1998
Most internet wrestling scholars agree that the scalp of ending a long-running undefeated streak should be given to a young up-and-comer - their final stepping stone en route to becoming an established main event player.
Remarkably, that's pretty much what WCW did at December 1998's Starrcade, where Kevin Nash defeated Goldberg for the World Heavyweight Championship after nWo cohort Scott Hall disarmed his opponent through the use of a cattle prod towards the end of the match.
While Big Sexy was, to be fair, pushing 40 at the time, this must be prefaced with the caveat that he was a relative late-comer to the business, having been competing in the ring less than a decade. He was also yet to hold the Big Gold Belt on Nitro, despite his success over on Raw as Diesel.
That's where this half-hearted defence of WCW's creative team ends, however. While Nash may have been the right choice to end Goldberg's purported 173-match run, all of the good this decision did was promptly undone a week later after Hogan's "Fingerpoke of Doom". Bill died for this?
