10 WWE Heels Who Were Actually Babyfaces In Disguise

3. Hulk Hogan

Hogan Rock II
WWE

There were various points throughout Hulk Hogan’s wrestling career were he played a horrendously miscast babyface, particularly towards the end of his first WWE run. In 2002, however, he found himself on the opposite side of the equation.

All three members of the initial WWE New World Order revival could feasibly be listed here, but fans were far more nostalgic for Hogan’s return that Scott Hall or Kevin Nash’s. When Vince McMahon brought the trio back to “kill his creation", he thought the nWo would be jeered like hated invaders. Instead, Hogan, Hall, and Nash were celebrated like returning heroes, and their run inevitably flopped.

Hogan was particularly over with the crowd. He was soon booked in an epic era vs. era clash with The Rock at WrestleMania X8, and it was an incredible spectacle. Sure, it wasn’t exactly a technical masterpiece, but the atmosphere may never be matched, and while Hogan was supposed to be the heel, he was cheered loudly throughout.

WWE fortunately realised that the heel run wasn’t working out and turned Hulk face in the immediate aftermath, but Hogan has rarely been as miscast as he was for that brief period in 2012.
