10 WWE Instances Where 'Payback' Was Deserved

9. Paul Heyman Screws Brock Lesnar

Younger fans' collective heads will have just exploded. Yes. This actually did happen almost 13 years ago now. We all remember how Brock Lesnar debuted on Raw as the €˜hottest free agent€™, dismantling the likes of Al Snow and Spike Dudley with Paul Heyman screeching orders on the ring apron. Fast forward a few months and one WWE Undisputed title reign, and the dynamic duo of Brock and Paul were at loggerheads. The Beast was facing The Big Show at Survivor Series 2002 after Heyman had tried to talk him out of defending the title. Brock had recently defeated The Undertaker in a brutal Hell in a Cell match and the former ECW supremo thought that The Beast would be foolish to go into a title defence against a man the size of Show so soon. During the match, Lesnar hit an F-5 and looked set for the win. As the referee counted, Heyman inexplicably pulled him out of the ring. This distraction allowed Show to attack Lesnar with a chair then hit the Showstopper for the 1-2-3. This gave Brock his first pin fall defeat as a WWE superstar and cost him his Undisputed Championship.
