10 WWE Reunions That Were False Dawns

7. The NWo (2002)

After laying waste to WCW both in storyline and real life, the nWo found themselves back on WWF television in 2002, thanks to Vince McMahon's purchase of the former company and their library of matches.

WWF fans were understandably giddy at the prospect of their mortal enemies, Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash taking on their heroes. The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin were the first to cross paths with the iconic stable. McMahon wasn't messing around.

After Rock beat Hogan at WrestleMania X8 (Austin took down Hall at the event, also), the nWo had clearly been defeated on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Then the cracks started to show. Hogan aligned himself with The Rock to take on Hall and Nash, after a politicised, self-serving audible, opening the revolving door to a school of new nWo members.

X-Pac, Booker T, Big Show, Ric Flair and Shawn would all find themselves wearing the famous black and white. This over-saturation and literally finding any excuse to throw performers into the group in a bid to give them the 'rub', showed that McMahon had learnt nothing from WCW's mistakes with the group, nor its success.

Before the end of the year, what was left of the team would be disbanded and the hope that had lived in those first few weeks of their arrival onto enemy soil, had been obliterated from the company.
