Whenever the subject of performers who were successful with multiple gimmicks is brought up it is Mick Foley who inevitably takes the headlines. For a long time 'multiple gimmicks' pretty much was Mick Foley's gimmick, and to this day he remains the only man to enter the same Royal Rumble as three different characters.

His gimmicks are the stuff of legend - Mankind was the deranged sociopath, Dude Love was a love-hungry hippy and Cactus Jack was violence personified. Foley won titles with all three gimmicks, although tag team gold was all he accomplished with the latter two. Dude Love was a tag champion with Stone Cold Steve Austin whilst Cactus won those same titles alongside Chainsaw Charlie.

Mankind was undoubtedly Mick Foley's most successful WWE persona. The Deranged One managed to win three WWF Championships along with tag success teaming with The Rock, Kane and Al Snow, and it was Mankind who was awarded the inaugural Hardcore Championship by Vince McMahon in November 1998.

Mick Foley is the most successful performer in WWE history when it comes to different gimmicks. The ubiquity of the internet and insider knowledge means that the days of performers being able to win championships with multiple personas may be coming to end, but the presence of Ziggler and Cody on this list maybe suggest otherwise.

Can you see any former champions being repackaged successfully in the future?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
