12 Upcoming Wrestling Stories That Are Already Doomed

5. The Wyatt Sicks

The Wyatt Sicks can now be condemned as a noble failure, and the nobility is absolutely worth lingering on.

A group led by Uncle Howdy that featured Nikki Cross, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis and a returning Erick Rowan was a worthwhile continuation of Bray Wyatt's legacy, and their formal introduction in 2024 sought to maximise the love Wyatt's fanbase had for the lore by giving each member logical explanations as to why they'd embraced the darkness. Separately and together, they were oddly credible in spite of the presentation, and an early programme with the listless Final Testament was - if nothing else - an easy way to flesh the gimmicks out bell-to-bell and try to get them off to a winning start.

Alas, WWE creative appeared to tire of all of that, and the group went AWOL beyond the odd (and typical to the point of being dull) teases of their imminent return. They snared tag gold on SmackDown in a division playing hot potato with the belts, and all babyface sentiment was flushed as they became cheating heels that used their added psychological edge to...pull the referee out at two and run distraction finish plays.

The end may not be in sight anytime soon, but it was clear from that point we had reached the beginning of it.
