12 Wrestlers Who Looked COMPLETELY Out Of Place In Other Promotions
1. Kurt Angle In ECW
Nah, not Kurt Angle in 2006 ECW when he was already a made man and considered a wrestling machine who'd snarl at opponents then snap ankles like twigs. We're talking happy go lucky 1996 Kurt, a clean cut athlete who was fresh off winning gold at the Olympics. He landed in Paul Heyman's lawless cult promotion and surely wondered what the actual heck he was doing there.
This was even more fascinating than Bob Backlund re-appearing in the WWF. At least the fed was portraying a family friendly image that fit snugly with Bob's 'goody two shoes' presentation in 1992. ECW definitely didn't do that, and Angle was horrified when he witnessed a crucifixion angle involving Raven and The Sandman at one show he attended.
That was all too much for him, and he knew he had to get out of there fast.
Also, this was way before pro wrestling fans really knew who Kurt was. He hadn't made a splash in the WWF just yet (that was years away), so this smiling Ken Doll with the pearly whites was always going to be somebody ECW's faithful turned their noses up at. They wanted Balls Mahoney, not some dude who encouraged them to drink their milk and wear polo shirts.
Looking back, it's such a mad visual to see Angle in the original ECW at all.
