6 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling Sacrifice 2021

3. Deonna Gets It Done

Deonna Purrazzo has been a credible Knockouts Champion throughout both of her reigns as champion, but not every title bout can be great. Sacrifice's contest vs. ODB was a testament to this.

It wasn't necessarily bad. It just wasn't good. Suffering from the tropes you'd expect between the two, i.e. Kimber Lee and Susan being ejected from ringside early on in the contest, ODB's genitalia-related offence and overall sluggish in-ring persona, etc. Even Purrazzo, one of Impact's greatest ever knockouts, couldn't make a good match out of this.

An attempted Fujiwara armbar mere minutes into the match was a mistake on Deonna's part, but she realised this herself, as 'The Virtuosa' would spend the remainder of the match focusing on ODB's arm. A nice powerslam from the former four-time Knockouts Champion was about the only decent thing ODB did here; she submitted to Deonna's Venus de Milo soon thereafter.

Deonna will be able to recover from this easily. She's 'The Virtuosa' for a reason. Where, exactly, she goes is unknown as there isn't really a standout contender to come for her next, but rest assured, she'll be fine. As for ODB? She'll be leaving most likely. It was good to see her for a bit again, at least.
