7 Great Talkers WWE Didn't Let Talk
5. Kane
As a little bonus to this entry, check out this decent promo from Kane's time as the 'Fake' Diesel in the USWA.
No, it's no going to win any 'Best Interview' awards, but it does prove that he had potential on the mic that Vince McMahon could've worked on had he not been saddled with such a silly gimmick. Things improved when the phoney 'Big Daddy Cool' became the 'Big Red Machine' Kane in late-1997 and chased The Undertaker around.
The emotionless nightmare Kane played was backed by Paul Bearer's shrill hype and the chargrilled imagery of fire and flame. That character was bad ass to the core, and later started speaking gingerly by using a voice box. Then, when WWE decided to unmask him in 2003, Kane turned into a different kind of demon who could talk unaided.
It wasn't until this happened that his true skills on the mic came to the fore. As cheesy as they were, his tales of killing the neighbour's dog and watching it rot screamed serial killer, and they helped give the already-exagerrated gimmick more menace.
