Lost in the narrative in recent months has been the idea that AJ Styles befriended Omos to simply serve as his enforcer, a big man to watch his back and help him be successful in WWE. There’s no real friendship or relationship there.

There were hints thrown around here and there, but that thread had been dropped, until Monday, when New Day picked it back up. Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods pointed out that AJ & Omos weren’t really a team – they’ve never partnered together in a match. And then New Day proceeded to challenge AJ by asking him about Omos’ favorites – and he predictably was horribly wrong on every one of them.

Oh sure, that isn’t going to have any material effect on their match at WrestleMania, but it worked as a simple way to note that although they get along and have been a pair for months, Styles and Omos aren’t really a team, at least not yet.
