8 Most Pointless WWE PPV Matches Of 2017 (So Far)

2. Big Show Vs. Rusev (Fastlane)

Want to scare yourself? Watch Rusev's routine loss to The Big Show at Fastlane in early-March and then consider the Bulgarian was in a featured spot at Hell In A Cell just over four months prior. Sure, Rusev was in the opening match at HIAC, but he was also inside the titular structure and facing Roman Reigns. At Fastlane, he was cannon fodder.

Fastlane was too busy a card in general, and complete exclusion for Rusev would have been preferable to doing the job here. After rescuing his going-nowhere character in 2016 with a lengthy United States Title run, WWE were seemingly happy to let Rusev slide back down the pecking order and become borderline enhancement talent for a giant they barely use these days.

What was the point of this other than to depict Rusev as a loser? Surely that can't have been the objective, but it's difficult to see any other aim. Rusev is talented enough and over enough (when handled correctly) to be useful to WWE. It's high time that talent was harnessed properly.
