8 New Directions For WWE After Survivor Series: WarGames 2025

6. Liv Morgan’s Return

WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2025 Liv Morgan Dominik Mysterio John Cena

There were multiple masterful fakeouts on display during John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio.

Firstly, Dominik mimicking Penta's very-real match-stopping injury from Raw was seriously well done. It was believable that Mysterio was legit hurt as he was writhing around at ringside. There was a very low mood inside Petco Park as people contemplated Cena's final PLE match ever ending on a sour note prematurely, but then Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez attacked him to reveal the ruse.

Later, Liv Morgan returned and teased a turn on her lover by attacking him. A confused Cena looked on as Morgan hugged him, but then her expression changed (her freaky look was similar to John's before he turned heel at Elimination Chamber) before she retreated and kicked him right in the balls. One belt shot from Liv later and Dominik was putting Cena away to win his second Intercontinental Title this year.

That was a really well orchestrated swerve. A Morgan and Mysterio split is coming at some point in the future, but there needed to be a better reason for it than what's happened recently. Dom has been flirting on and off with Roxanne, but...yeah, they need to pad that story out before Liv dumping him is justified.

It was smart to get the IC Title off of Cena before his retirement match too. The fact 13 December is his final bout should be the focal point, not anything else. It'll be some laugh to see Liv back on WWE TV every week again. She was such an important cog in the women's division before her injury.
