One of the main reasons Roman Reigns received so much heat from fans was because he was hand-picked by WWE to be "the guy," and the point was painstakingly drilled in for several years.

It was clear the 'Big Dog' was set to be the face of the company, winning all of the championships along the way. There was no need to reiterate the obvious. But since WWE hadn't sacrificed The Undertaker to get their next face over yet, something they felt still needed to be done, dream match hopes of Sting or John Cena fighting 'The Phenom' were shattered in favor of passing the torch to Reigns.

During his chance to shine at WrestleMania 33, though, Reigns botched a major spot. As many superstars had done in the past, Reigns was set up to reverse a Tombstone Piledriver from 'The Deadman' into one of his own. However, he couldn't support 'Taker, who flopped on the canvas in an attempt to help Reigns pick him back up. After the moment was completely spoiled, Reigns decided to revert to a lackadaisical Superman Punch, but it wasn’t as though fans didn’t notice his shortcoming.
