8 Ups And 2 Downs For WWE NXT (Apr 27)
1. Legado Divide And Conquer
After losing out in their NXT Tag Team Championship match at Stand and Deliver and Santos Escobar shockingly dropping his title to KUSHIDA the following week, Legado del Fantasma were in need of a performance. So, when they found themselves opposite three of the black and gold brand's favourite sons in recent times, you didn't have the highest hopes for the lucha libre masters.
But, after weathering an early storm of violent kicks and typically athletic and equally inventive offence from the high-flying MSK and technically masterful KUSHIDA, Legado soon exposed the unit's lack of ring time together by picking them off one-by-one. A catastrophic powerbomb through the table for the Cruiserweight Champion was then followed by Nash Carter being fed to some steel steps and a prolonged beatdown of Wes Lee.
Then, just as it looked like the valiant faces were about to inevitably rescue victory from the jaws of defeat, the villainous trio made them pay with a Phantom Driver to KUSHIDA and double-team Russian leg-sweep to Carter for the emphatic victory.
On a night which shied away from decisiveness on occasion, this main event proved that you can still make your heroes look strong even in failure. But where does this leave Legado in the title hunt? A wise person wouldn't bet against all three holding gold again before 2021 is out...
