2. Down With Nostalgia

Michael Cole might disagree, but the reasons Cesaro & Sheamus gave for turning on the Hardy Boyz at Payback were more than sufficient – and even somewhat logical.

The former tag champs had been fan favorites for a while, but the returning Hardys quickly captured fans’ hearts, which is what Cesaro honed in on. Fans loved the nostalgia act and responded to them rather than living in the present where Cesaro & Sheamus reside.

The heel turn for the duo (the first time Cesaro has been a pure heel in a couple years) could help revitalize them, but calling out the Hardys as a novelty act has to help push along the migration toward the Broken Hardys, with Matt and Jeff giving the “delete” gesture before storming the ring Monday.
