13. Fatal 4-Way 2010 (Sheamus Vs. Orton Vs. Cena Vs. Edge)

The problem with Fatal 4-Way matches is that they’re easily susceptible to the same boring formula: two guys get thrown out to start, and from there, it’s just a series of one-on-one encounters until the go-home sequence, in which everyone hits their finishers, but others are there to break the pin, until eventually, someone wins. Sadly, that is the case for the main event of this 4-way themed show.

Though, to their credit, this isn’t a terrible match. All four men are over as heels or faces, and nobody particularly looks bad (though it’s clear the injuries are catching up with Edge). However, this match gets points for the way it ends. The recently-debuting Nexus arrive on the scene and cause a ruckus, attacking John Cena and Edge and destroying the set. There’s zero commentary for this entire sequence, and it really adds to the drama, making it feel like more than just a wrestling angle. Sheamus picks up the pieces and wins the WWE Championship, running away from the Nexus.

A bog-standard match, yes, but one with a really great, memorable ending. It’s nice to re-watch stuff of the Nexus before WWE ruined them.
