WWE SummerSlam 2025 marks the first time that the market leader has opted to run a two-day SummerSlam, following in the footsteps of WrestleMania becoming a two-day event in recent years. With WWE clearly going all out with its SummerSlam line-up, the PLE has plenty of potential to be one of the promotion's best shows of the year, particularly when you take a look at some of the more high-profile matches that have been put together.

To break it down to individual days, there's a little bit of uncertainty as to which match will close out Night 1 of SummerSlam, with online chatter suggesting it's a toss-up between World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defending against CM Punk, or the huge tag match pitting Roman Reigns and Jey Uso against Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.

Following his first true WrestleMania main event, CM Punk finds himself gunning to win his first WWE title of any form since 2013. Of course, going up against the Ring General will be no easy feat for the Second City Saint, with this being a first televised match between the two. To get here, Punk had to win a gauntlet match on Raw earlier this month, whilst Gunther finds himself fresh off the back of beating Goldberg in Da Man's retirement match.

For that aforementioned tag match, Roman Reigns and his cousin Jey Uso team up to battle Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, with the ever-calcuating Paul Heyman in Bron-Bron's corner. Remember, it was Breakker who took out the OTC on the Raw after WrestleMania 41, and Reigns is now out for revenge after making his WWE return a couple of weeks ago. Their mentor Seth Rollins may be out injured right now, but Breakker and Reed showed on this week's Raw just how vicious they can be, decimating Reigns and Uso. And speaking of Rollins, there's plenty of scuttlebutt that the Visionary is maybe not quite as injured as fans have been led to believe, so he may possibly have his own role to play at SummerSlam, potentially involving his Money in the Bank briefcase...

Elsewhere on SummerSlam Saturday, Jade Cargill is looking to dethrone Tiffany Stratton as the WWE Women's Champion. Jade won the Queen of the Ring tournament last month to get to this title opportunity, whereas Stratton isn't far removed from one of the biggest wins of her career, beating Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at Evolution a matter of weeks ago. In the other title match of Night 1, it's the Women's Tag Team Championships on the line, as the Judgment Day duo of Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez defend their gold against the are-they-friends-aren't-they-friends team of Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair.

Saturday will also have plenty of eyes on Randy Orton teaming with Grammy-nominated musician Jelly Roll, as they face off with Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. Well, that's if the Scottish Warrior is able to resolve certain travel issues, with McIntyre finding himself stranded in the UK this week due to a passport issue. And rounding out the Night 1 line-up, it's now been confirmed that Karrion Kross and Sami Zayn will go one-on-one again - all as rumours continue to swirl over Kross' WWE future.

Switching gears to SummerSlam Night 2, it's far clearer which match will be on main event duties, with Cody Rhodes looking to regain the WWE Championship from John Cena in a rematch of their WrestleMania 41 bout.

Much like Jade Cargill got her SummerSlam title shot by winning the Queen of the Ring, the American Nightmare's King of the Ring victory put him once again on a collision course with John Cena. Of course, WrestleMania 41 saw Cena - thanks to Travis Scott interference, a kick to the balls, and a title shot to the face - beat Cody to become a record-setting 17-time World Champion. In this rematch, though, all bets are off as the match will be competed under Street Fight rules, with weapons and interference all being fair game this time out.

While Night 1 might feature three title matches, SummerSlam Night 2 is even more stacked in that regard, with a total of six championships on the line. Away from Rhodes vs. Cena, there's a potential show-stealer in the form of Naomi defending the Women's World Title against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky. Considering Ripley, Sky, and Bianca Belair had the best match of WrestleMania 41, and considering the excellent run Naomi has been on since turning heel, expectations are high for something great from these three. And what got us to this point? Why, that was Naomi crashing the party and cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase during the fantastic Ripley vs. Sky match at Evolution earlier this month.

Rhea and Iyo have clearly got phenomenal chemistry together, and so, too, do Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria. These former friends once again go at it at SummerSlam, with Lynch defending the Women's Intercontinental Championship against her one-time mentee. The Man managed to just about walk out of Evolution with her title still around her waist, eeking out a win over Valkyria and Bayley, but it remains to be seen whether Becky will still have that prize in her possession by the time all's said and done at SummerSlam.

WWE's two men's secondary titles are also up for grabs on SummerSlam's second night, with Dominik Mysterio finally defending his Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles. This comes after Dirty Dom has purportedly not been medically cleared for the last little while, with the Phenomenal One extremely keen to get Mysterio in the ring. Over on the SmackDown brand, Jacob Fatu will attempt to get the United States Title back from Solo Sikoa. But with Solo trying to get the Samoan Werewolf put behind bars for a faux car crash recently, Smackers GM Nick Aldis has decided to make this one a steel cage match.

Speaking of car crashes, WWE SummerSlam Sunday will also feature a six-team ladder match for the WWE Tag Team Titles. Ever-fun, ever-dangerous, these match types are renowned for the sheer chaos and carnage they so often bring with them, with the Wyatt Sicks' Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis defending those belts against the Street Profits, Faxiom, the Motor City Machine Guns, DIY, and the relatively new, but extremely impressive tandem of Andrade and Rey Fenix.
