Story: The Total Divas "reality" show debuted on E Network in July of 2013. It was the first of those shows in WWE history meaning that it followed the personal and professional lives of WWE divas. Of course it's not really what their lives are like because they have scripted storylines like most shows that claim they are reality. In a lot of ways it's like pro wrestling. One of the main focuses on the show involves the Bella Twins with Brie marrying Daniel Bryan earlier this year and Nikki dating John Cena. It was the first time we saw Cena in a setting where he was hanging out with his girlfriend. Prior to that we didn't even know much about them dating. He almost never talked about his private life when he was married and now he was out there on television flaunting his relationship for the world to see. It was a big change for him. When the show launched there were a lot of questions that arose about whether or not they would have even had a show if Cena wasn't dating one of the WWE divas. Nobody has really said one way or another if it's true or not. It's only speculation. Why People Believe It: There were reports over the years that WWE was pitching reality shows like Total Divas for a long time and they didn't get picked up. Soon after Cena started dating Nikki, WWE got a show on E Network. Coincidence? Up to you to decide. Should We Believe It: Yes we should. Maybe E Network didn't want the show before Nikki was dating John because they barely knew who some of these WWE divas were. However, once they heard John Cena was going to be a part of it they had some interest. Cena's presence definitely helped this show. To what degree? We don't know.
