Latest On Britt Baker's AEW Future (AEW News)
Will Britt Baker be back on AEW TV in 2026?
With Britt Baker having been entirely absent from AEW programming for over a year by this point, there's now a smidge of an update on whether fans should expect D.M.D. to be back on our screens any time soon.
When asked on the latest edition of SRS Q&A on Fightful Select whether he expects Britt to be brought back to AEW TV in 2026, Sean Ross Sapp is under the belief that this won't happen.
"At this point, I don't think that we're going to see her back. Her deal goes well into 2026, but it's been over a year. At least the last time I spoke with her, she indicated that she was healthy, and that's been, like, ages and ages ago. I've heard no discussions regarding her in a long time, outside of when we ask on media calls. I don't think it's going to happen. Now, obviously, before she came back briefly in 2024, she was gone for a while, but she had a lot of health issues. She's barely been around in two years. I don't think she's gonna come back."
Britt Baker's most recent match in AEW was nearly 14 months ago, defeating Penelope Ford on the 13 November 2024 episode of Dynamite. Of course, post-match, the former AEW Women's Champion repeatedly said "nobody cares" when confronted by Serena Deeb.
Reports at the time said that Tony Khan was "fed up" with Britt after that Deeb incident, and all subsequent creative plans were dropped for the Roll Model. Previously, there had been an incident between Baker and MJF, not to mention that there was a hugely negative response to Britt's match against Mercedes Moné at All In 2024 last summer. In her defence, that Mercedes match was only Britt's third match back after close to a year out due to injuries, and there have to be some questions over putting the Pittsburgh native in such a big spot when she'd only wrestled a couple of short matches against Hikaru Shida and Harley Cameron in the build to All In.
Whether Britt Baker does resurface on AEW TV at some point this year remains to be seen, though the simple fact that she wasn't brought back for a Pittsburgh Dynamite taping back in September only added further fuel to those rumours that it's only a matter of time before Britt's run with AEW comes to an end. On that front, as noted, her existing contract runs until later this year, with there also the possibility that AEW could add time onto that deal due to time missed through injury.
