Latest On WWE's Plans For Riddle Vs. Roman Reigns

Is Riddle's Undisputed WWE Universal Title shot still happening or not?

This is a follow-on from earlier news that Roman Reigns won't be appearing at WWE's upcoming Money In The Bank 2022 pay-per-view after all.

Dave Meltzer is reporting, via Wrestling Observer Radio, that Reigns isn't scheduled to work a match until SummerSlam on 30 July. That, naturally, would rule him out of a rumoured scrap with Riddle...or would it? Meltzer also reports that WWE is toying with the idea of pushing Roman vs. Riddle on TV rather than on pay-per-view.

That'd still mean Riddle's RK-Bro pal Randy Orton would be Reigns' opponent come SummerSlam.

Roman hasn't wrestled a match on free WWE programming since beating Sami Zayn in just 15 seconds on the 3 December 2021 episode of SmackDown. Before that, the 'Tribal Chief' last worked a TV bout against Xavier Woods on the 12 November edition of the Friday night show.

His non-pay-per-view in-ring performances are few and far between then.

WWE could use that to their advantage when pulling the trigger on a match vs. Riddle. Meltzer agrees that it'd be a waste if they didn't capitalise on the recent build and book that bout pre-SummerSlam.
