It may be a C-tier pay per view, but 2020’s Clash of Champions was one of the year’s finest events. Expectations weren’t exactly too high for this one, but the sense of fun and a few truly great matches made this a must-watch.

Asuka was on double duty once more, putting on a more than servicable match with Zelina Vega. Lashley and Apollo Crews had one of their many fights, repetitive but always decent. The same can be said for Street Profits vs Andrade & Garza - hardly fresh, but top ring work.

McIntyre and Orton had probably their most enjoyable PPV scrap, an ambulance match that was overbooked and full of fan service, but in terms of pure fun, it delivered in spades. Uso and Reigns began their storyline with a vicious familial fight that went from competitive tustling to all out war - for purists, perhaps their best match.

And then there’s the ladder match for the Intercontinental championship. Sami Zayn, Jeff Hardy, and AJ Styles put on a low key contender for MOTY - a brilliantly inventive and distinctive war between three exceptional professional wrestlers. For sheer fun, this card’s a front to back winner.
