It was Hulk Hogan's first WrestleMania match in nine years. He wasn't in great physical shape and even in his best days he wasn't known as a guy that had great matches. What Hogan brought to the table was a lot of charisma, the kind of personality that really made him stand out and he liked to say the word "brother" a lot too. There was an interesting build here because they went really over the top by having Hogan drive a truck into an ambulance that had Rock in it. It was excessive. It didn't help that Rock showed up on TV within a couple of weeks with hardly a scratch on him. They didn't need to go that far. It worked when they set it up by issuing a challenge and accepting it. While the match shouldn't be considered one of the greatest matches ever from a technical wrestling standpoint, it is memorable in the sense that they entertained the crowd in ways that most people in wrestling can only dream of. There were huge crowd reactions for everything they did and a memorable post match celebration when it was over. They had a lot of pressure to put on a great show and they were able to come through, which shouldn't be that surprising considering they're two of the best showmen in wrestling history.
