WWE Clash In Paris 2025: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

6. Stephanie Vaquer's Title Match Is An Afterthought

WWE adding peripheral matches to supershows is a persistent worry. Generally, Triple H has become adept at giving every match plenty of time on PLEs. Sure, there’s still a ton of downtime in between them (how many WWE Shop ads can fans take?!), but the actual bouts themselves are given ample room to breathe.

Adding another in on Sunday would only dilute someone’s time further up the card, which wouldn’t be welcome. Arguably, the only one that'd be a neat addition? Dominik Mysterio vs. AJ Styles, but that's been popped onto the Raw after Clash instead. Man, missing out on the French crowd singing during AJ's entrance on PLE sucks. Won't somebody please think of Backlash 2024?!

Right, onto Stephanie Vaquer.

She's been promised a title shot by Raw GM Adam Pearce due to Naomi's maternity leave, but it'd be a step backwards if she wrestled Jacy Jayne for the NXT Title or something like that. Also, being honest, seeing her work SmackDown's Tiffany Stratton without any build at all wouldn't exactly be satisfying either. That's the kind of match which richly deserves some proper hype behind it.

Sadly, Pearce pretty much saying he'd find Stephanie someone to wrestle last minute means an afterthought title shot is on the way. That isn't a fab thought, because Vaquer challenging either Jayne or Stratton and coming out on the losing end hurts her and is totally avoidable.

Yes, Vaquer was likely losing to Naomi anyway, but they had some traction heading into that bout due to events at Evolution and Steph's overall rise up the ranks. Even winning the NXT belt from Jayne would feel like a step backwards for her right now. It's a tough position to be in.
