WWE Clash In Paris 2025: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

5. John Cena Enters Another Stinker

Let’s be honest here: Some of John Cena's matches throughout his lengthy retirement tour have been heavy on star power but light on actual bell to bell action. They’re more WCW main event in the late-1990s than WWE or John himself would like to admit. Y'know, unless he's a mark for Warrior vs. Hogan from Halloween Havoc 1998, that is.

OK, maybe his bouts haven't plummeted to those depths. They were 'Worst Of WCW' levels.

Logan Paul is a dynamic athlete, but he isn’t as seasoned as some of Cena’s other opponents this year, so there's a slight worry heading into Clash In Paris. The onus will really be on John to make this match something worthwhile and guide things in between Paul's flashy spots and viral table-breaking dives. The build between both guys in promos has been solid, but now they need to deliver a meaty match that pulls the nose up on Cena's retirement gig.

SummerSlam’s bout with Cody Rhodes was his best of 2025, so here’s hoping this is closer to that than WrestleMania 41. Some fans will shudder when remembering 'Mania, and there were many who didn't like Cena's final clash with Randy Orton at Backlash either. 'Big Match John' has a bit of making up to do during the last leg of this tour, put it that way!

It'd be rather crap if Cena vs. Paul was simply the latest slice of mediocrity. Nobody wants to look back on JC's retirement year and view TV promos as superior to practically all of his PLE matches, but that's staring the legend straight between the eyes.
