WWE Elimination Chamber 2026: 7 Nightmares That Could Come True
1. WWE Go Into WrestleMania With No Momentum
WrestleMania 42 feels ice cold at time of writing.
Yes, there's time for that to change, and hopefully it does. Any wrestling fan who wants 'Mania to feel less-than when the Saturday and Sunday cards come along is self-hating the industry to death, and that's daft. It's hard to deny the truth though: 2026's version is lacking the usual flurry of excitement that occurs between Royal Rumble and the big dance itself right now.
Corporate suits are flapping about lower-than-expected ticket sales, the return to Las Vegas hasn't captured the fanbase's collective imaginations, and none of the matches announced thus far (with the exception of CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns, arguably) feel worthy of such an occasion. 'Mania 42 is coming across as just another PLE stretched over 2 nights in an era where good faith in Triple H's creative leadership is rapidly diminishing.
That's rotten to say considering how fresh Hunter felt in the hot seat once Vince McMahon left. 'The Game' breathed new life into WWE's product, and his 'quality over quantity' approach to the bigger shows grabbed everyone by the balls. Sadly, things haven't been on that level for a while now. It's undeniable even for the biggest WWE super fan.
If Elimination Chamber doesn't deliver thrills and spills by the bucketload, then the promotion face heading into their biggest weekend of the year with zero momentum to speak of. That's worrying. They're concerned at boardroom level, and they should be.
Speaking strictly as a fan, something big needs to happen to stir interest. Will it happen in Chicago? That looks doubtful.
