Then: Remember in 2013 when everyone randomly decided they loved Fandango so much that WWE began pushing him? That feels like a lifetime ago now. Dango went from beating Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29 to basking in the glory of a raucous live crowd singing his theme incessantly on the following evening's Raw. He must've thought he was a made man.

5 years later, Fandango was lasting a little over 3 minutes in the GRR before being eliminated by Mojo Rawley. When wrestlers crash, they crash hard. This was tangible evidence of exactly where 'Dirty Dango' stood in the eyes of key decision makers. He and Breezango partner Tyler Breeze were clearly struggling to gain house room on TV by bell time.

Fandango danced his way to the ring, did nothing of note, then got bounced out of there in a hurry.

Now: He'd limp on as part of the WWE roster until June 2021. His release honestly came as no shocker to anybody who was paying attention - Dango had been sinking further and further down the cards since his 2013 high. He'd been sliding towards the exit doors for a while before it finally happened.

Post-WWE, Fandango worked for the NWA and then settled into a run in TNA. He's been there ever since, but did show back up on the WWE scene by way of a match vs. Lexis King on a February 2025 episode of NXT. That second stint with the promotion proved to be shortlived. It was a one off, basically.

Oh for the days of Jericho mispronouncing his name on purpose.
