WWE WrestleMania 42: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

7. John Cena Lies About The Attendance

John Cena is back mere months after retiring with a loss to Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event on 13 December 2025. In reality, 'Super Cena' might only be there to welcome everyone to both nights then announce the combined attendance on the Sunday. Good luck with that if he is, because everyone and their granny knows that this has sold worse than ‘Mania 41 in the same venue.

Eyes will be glued to the weekend to see how WWE plays this. It'll be interesting to see if they plan to tell quite the fib on camera, and use Cena’s connection with the audience to get through it. 'It wasn't us who said it, it was John'. One can see Triple H mumbling his way through that sort of explanation during a rare podcast interview in the future.

Or, 'The Game' would just pie the question entirely and pretend he doesn't know what anyone is talking about. WrestleMania 42 was a rip-roaring success at the gate, and why would you suggest otherwise?! That doesn't tell the full story. Also, Cena must be mindful of his relationship with the audience and how they view him post-retirement.

He'll get the kind of fanfare and adulation WWE wanted Hulk Hogan to get during his cameo spots for years, but some of that goodwill might wash away if he claims that the company broke records in Allegiant Stadium when everybody knows that certainly can't be the case.

This is a rare position for the promotion's bigwigs to be in. Let's see how they handle the heat.
